Owner Patrick & Guest

The Claddagh Inn, formerly St. Anne’s Presentation Convent features six comfortable, well-decorated ensuite rooms. It offers guests from around the world, a peaceful homey old world environment with improved multi media convenience, organic guest amenities and spa inspired linens and an Irish-Newfoundland guest pub “Padraig’s Folly”.

What is your business philosophy?

Our philosophy is that the Claddagh Inn is a regional focal point in the Legendary Coasts’ southeastern quarter. It’s place in local lore as a former convent and school and its deep roots in the community should be forever preserved. A guiding principle in our philosophy is that we as owners are committed to encouraging and continuing that preservation. Our vision is to offer travellers from near and far a unique hospitality experience on the corner of the world. To provide a haven in time of need for any occasion to regional residence and a place to gather be it in celebration of an anniversary, birthday or wedding or a quiet retreat for small groups. To provide hearty and delectable menu choices featuring all non-processed ingredients sourced as much as possible locally including from the sea.

What visitor experiences do you offer?

Enjoy four-course fine dining prepared by our house chef.  Relax in the cozy Irish-Newfoundland pub, explore the history and artifacts; flotsam and jetsam from local shipwrecks on its shelves and walls.  Experience a frothy artisan draught or a smoky highland whiskey, and perhaps share a yarn with a local visiting for a pint. The Claddagh Inn offers guest and travellers a unique Newfoundland old country Inn experience. To those seeking an Irish Loop experience, The Claddagh Inn overlooks St. Mary’s Harbor, nestled by the “Nuns Wood”. It provides an efficient and popular base for excursions around the Loop, situated between Cape St. Mary’s bird sanctuary and the Colony of Avalon archeological site, access to the Salmonier Nature Parks, The Cataract’s Provincial park, The Wilds Golf Resort, the whales at St. Vincent’s beach, the vista’s and sports fishing of Holyrood pond, the Mistaken point archeological site and the nooks, crannies and hiking trails in the region are easily accessed from our doors. We are sure that your experiences from here on the Loop with wear you out. Here you’ll fall asleep to the soothing sound of the waves lapping the shoreline and the foghorn calling the sailors safe, dreaming of breakfast

What new products are you offering in the next two years?

To take advantage of our view of the Harbor up here on the hill, we’ve extended our deck with an open-air 14-foot gazebo offering a comfortable spot for a cup of tea, a pint and to consider your next adventure. We are proud to announce the engagement of local chef John Corcoran as The Claddagh Inn’s new Head Chef. He spent over 20 years refining his art, and performed duties in senior chef positions at St. John’s establishments providing nutritional creations in a fine dining setting. We are excited to bring John home to share his skills.
